When you look around you, look at your life and what you have in it are you happy with your lot or do you find yourself always looking at what you don’t have but want to have? Do you ever feel that your chasing something, and when you get that something there is something else that you find yourself chasing after?

Have you ever had the feeling that your life was in a mess or even more than a mess. That your affairs were all over the place, scattered to the winds? That the more you try to place your life’s matters in order, the more caotic they appear to become.

Do you ever find yourself worried about how you look, wishing you had a better car to drive, consumed with what to wear, what your status in life is, how much money you have.

Do you find yourself often overly concerned with what others think of you, whether or not they like you or don’t like you. Whether they approve of you or don’t approve whether they are talking to you or backbiting you?

At the end of the day do feel totally exhausted as if you have run a marathon twice over and not achieved anything?

If you find yourself answering yes then take a look at what is taking your focusing – The creation rather than The Creator.

The Prophet Salallahu Alayhi WaSalaam said: Whoever makes the Hereafter his preoccupation, then Allah places freedom from want in his heart, gathers his affairs, and Dunya (worldly life) comes to him despite being reluctant to do so.

And whoever makes Dunya his preoccupation, then Allah places his poverty in front of his eyes, make his affairs scattered, and nothing of the Dunya comes to him except that which has been decreed for him. [At-Tirmidhi]
